There are many things that are done in our communities that we expect to be done, but how often do we actually thank community servants for the things that they do. Some people put their lives in danger every day. Some people do more than what is expected –and rarely get noticed. And some of us just complain a little too much.
How can we say “thank you” to our community servants? Please be thinking and praying about this –because I think we should be thanking them. How can we, as the Body of Christ, send a simple message that says, “We notice you. We appreciate you. We thank you,”? Sometimes it takes a real tragedy before we realize how appreciative we need to be.
God has called us to serve our community. He has called us to love one another and love Him by obeying the Gospel of Jesus Christ. How? Maybe we should be asking Him more often just how we should be serving Him. Can you all help me in this endeavor? I really, really need your help –and I really mean this. Let’s continuously remind one another to pray for God’s direction and help so that we know exactly how He wants us to serve Him. And then let’s get to it. Maybe God is speaking through you. Maybe He’s given you an idea for the entire church, but you’re afraid to express your idea. Don’t be afraid -be courageous. The time we have today is the time that God has given us: Ask Him how He wants you to use that time. Let’s love Jesus the best way that we can –by loving one another and serving the world. Serve –not because you have to, but because you love Jesus. Pray to be sensitive to the needs of others. Pray that God would open all of our eyes that we would see what He sees. And let’s all, rather than complain, see how we can help others see some things. God has created everyone around us to make an impact for His Kingdom –but they haven’t seen that yet. God has given every single person some sort of talent or ability or has given him or her resources for great reasons –but they may not know that yet. Our mission is to serve the world in such a way that the world sees God clearly, and people begin to “redeem” what God has given them for His glory. God has put every single one of us where we are, right now, to make an impact for Him. Let’s help others to see that more clearly by obeying Him with all the love we can.
Love in Jesus,
George
